Solo, Ensemble, Violin Lessons
Hallie Reeves has taught violin, viola, fiddle, left-handed fiddle, piano, theory, ear-training, sight-reading, & perfect pitch in the Houston area since 1989. She has been on the faculties of Lee College, the Loftis Music Studios, the Kingwood Music Studios, and the Pasadena School of Music. She was a long-term substitute orchestra director at Baytown Junior School, & taught private lessons at the Pasadena H&H Music Store for 12 years.
She holds a Master of Music in Violin Performance from the University of Houston, & a Bachelor’s degree from the U. of Northern Iowa, where she was the Concertmaster for three years & the Principle Viola for another three after graduating with honors. She also attended the U. of Iowa, Indiana U. (as a viola major), The National Music Camp at Interlochen, Michigan, & the Meadowmount School for Strings. Most recently, she studied with Ferenc Illényi, a First Violinist in the Houston Symphony. She has also studied with 26 other violin teachers (from her father to playing in a master class for Dorothy Delay) and therefore has the benefit of many different perspectives.
As far as her piano training goes, she began lessons with her mother at age 3, and then studied with Mrs. Shirley Cropper of Cedar Falls, Iowa, until her high school graduation, for a total of 15 years. She won many “Superior” awards in the annual B Natural Music Club’s Spring Festivals.
Miss Reeves was a member of the Waterloo/Cedar Falls Symphony & Chamber Orchestra of Iowa for 10 years, and of the Cedar Rapids Symphony (on viola) for 2 years, and has freelanced extensively in the Houston area.
She plays violin for special events (weddings, birthdays, proposals, art gallery shows, church services, etc.) & can also be seen performing in the Baytown, Beaumont, & Galveston Symphonies.
